The Arizona Democratic Party is outraged and heartbroken by the killing of Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen and mother, during an I.C.E. operation today in Minneapolis.
This devastating loss did not happen in a vacuum. Under the Trump administration, I.C.E. has been deliberately weaponized to escalate fear and confrontation in communities across the country. As a result, law-abiding people are being deported without due process, American citizens are being put directly in harm’s way, and today a mother to a six-year-old lost her life.
The administration’s reckless approach to immigration enforcement prioritizes intimidation over safety and chaos over accountability. When federal agents are encouraged to escalate at all costs and operate without meaningful oversight, tragic and preventable outcomes become inevitable.
The Arizona Democratic Party calls for an immediate, independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing of Renee Nicole Good and full accountability for any wrongdoing. No family should ever lose a loved one because their government chose cruelty over common sense.
Chairwoman Charlene Fernandez said:
“Renee Nicole Good should be alive today. Instead, a mother was killed because the Trump administration has embraced cruelty and chaos over the rule of law. When I.C.E. is pushed to escalate rather than protect, Americans pay the price. We demand answers, accountability, and an end to policies that put innocent lives in danger.”
Democrats will continue to fight for an immigration system rooted in humanity, due process, and public safety. We will hold this administration accountable for the real and devastating consequences of its actions.
